MCGS specializes in grief services for individuals who have experienced disenfranchised grief in addition to normal grief. During the normal grieving process, grief is socially or publicly recognized and loss is validated. Kenneth Doka, a leading expert on grief counseling and therapy, defines disenfranchised grief as, "a sorrow that is not socially or publicly recognized." Individuals who have experienced disenfranchised grief often grieve in silence because the reality of the loss is not validated.
MCGS journeys with the individual or group using a variety of proven industry methods to help individuals better understand and cope with their loss. Our services will equip individuals with the appropriate knowledge to walk though life’s toughest times and reduce the fear and anxiety of loss, death and grief.
MCGS strives to change the lives of grieving children and adults by:
Providing them with education and exposure to the grieving process. This will enable them to journey through their grief in a healthy manner and avoid the consequences of unresolved grief.
Delivering all services in a safe, warm, caring, professional, and nonjudgmental environment.
Equipping individuals with the tools to manage and transform their loss from despair to hope and strength. The trauma and pain that can be associated with grief is reduced when individuals are knowledgeable about the grieving process.
Providing services to those who care for or work with grief-affected individuals in a variety of settings, including schools, organizations, work environments, and places of worship.
